The exhibition brings together works that belonged to the Brazilian photo club movement
The Oscar Niemeyer Museum (MON) and Itaú Cultural reaffirm their partnership and inaugurate another exhibition: Moderna Para Sempre - Brazilian Modernist Photography in Itaú Cultural Collection.
The show brings for the first time to Paraná a collection of 132 works by 31 artists who belonged to the Brazilian photo club movement, launched in late 1930. All works date back to the period of 1940 and 1970, when in the wake of European modernism and American, Brazilian photographers entered the discussion of photographic art limits. They are masters like Joseph Yalenti, José Oiticica Filho, Geraldo de Barros, Marcel Giró, Thomaz Farkas, German Lorca, Ademar Manarini, Paulo Pires, among others, that make up the show.
Moderna Para Sempre has been shown in 12 cities and in Curitiba the exhibition presents almost all the works of the Institute collection, which has 138 photo-modernists. For the director-president of MON, Juliana Vosnika, exposure is relevant for its images and content to present the Brazilian modernism photo club, an important period in the artistic development of photography. "Moderna para Sempre reinforces our partnership with Itaú Cultural and presents the audience of Curitiba with a history lesson about photography in Brazil," she says.
